Lucas & Co. and its employees are regulated by the Intellectual Property Regulation Board and adhere to its Code of Conduct. Some of our partners are Patent Attorney Litigators and, for litigious matters, adhere to the Special Rules of Conduct for Patent Attorney Litigators.
Each of our professionals is either entered on one or more of the registers of professional representatives, and/or is a member of one or more relevant professional associations.
The registers are: the Register of Patent Agents in the United Kingdom, the Register of Trade Mark Agents in the United Kingdom, the list of professional representatives before the European Patent Office, and the list of professional representatives before the OHIM (which is responsible for registering Community Trade Mark and Designs).
The relevant professional associations are:
Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA)
Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI)
Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA)
If a member of one or more of these associations, that member also abides by the Code of Conduct of IPReg and / or the Code of Conduct of the EPI.
We value our good relationships with our clients. However, we accept that from time to time, difficulties and misunderstandings may arise. If you have any problems, you should feel free to discuss your concerns with the member of our professional staff dealing with your work. If, after such discussions, you feel that the matter has not been adequately dealt with, please write to the Managing or Senior Partner at the address above to implement our internal complaints procedure. During this procedure the Managing Partner or Senior Partner (or another partner if either of them is involved in the matter) will review our file and the details of the complaint, and will provide a response to you in writing. A copy of the firm?s internal complaints procedure is available to clients on request.
In the very unusual event that we are unable to resolve your complaint internally, you may raise your complaint with the Intellectual Property Regulation Board and/or with the Legal Ombudsman.
